Deep within the heart of Sulawesi Barat, in a small village called Dusun Lambu, resides Pastor Yohanes. This young pastor, barely 32 years old, shoulders the weighty responsibility of guiding a flock of 100 souls at the local church, the GBI Lambu.

Pastor Yohanes embodies the spirit of Christ, his kindness and humility deeply respected by his congregation. Yet, his life is a constant balancing act. By day, he works tirelessly as an ojek (motorcycle taxi driver), battling the elements and navigating the challenging terrain to earn a living. By night, he dedicates himself to his flock, offering spiritual guidance and support.

Despite his meager earnings, Pastor Yohanes selflessly dedicates a portion of his income towards the desperately needed repairs of their church. The current building, a testament to years of neglect, stands as a poignant reminder of the community’s struggle.

The bamboo walls, once sturdy, are now riddled with holes, offering little protection from the elements. The corrugated iron roof, rusted and dented, leaks incessantly during the rainy season. And the wooden pillars, weakened by years of exposure, threaten to give way.

The congregation, mostly from humble backgrounds, struggles to contribute to the church’s upkeep. Their daily struggle for survival leaves little room for financial contributions.  

Now, it’s our turn to answer that call. As fellow believers, let us extend a helping hand to Pastor Yohanes and his congregation. Let us become instruments of God’s love by contributing to the rebuilding of their church.
