Loshni Devi wasn’t always like this. She was a happy, healthy child—until polio stole her ability to walk at just five years old. From that day on, her world became smaller, confined to the same four walls of their tiny home. Still, Muniamah never gave up. She cared for Loshni the best she could, making sure her daughter was safe and loved.

But life had more trials in store for them. At 38, Loshni was diagnosed with leukemia. The disease slowly drained whatever strength she had left. Now 40, she is completely bedridden—unable to move, sit up, or even go to the toilet without help. Some nights, she cries in pain. Other nights, she doesn’t even recognize her own mother.

Muniamah, Loshni’s mother, works as a parking attendant, earning RM1,200 a month—just enough to scrape by. But Loshni’s leukemia treatment alone costs RM370 a month. A proper medical mattress to ease her pain costs RM200. These are things Muniamah simply cannot afford. If Loshni falls sick, Muniamah has to stay home, losing even the little income they have.

“If I go to work, who will take care of her? But if I don’t, we won’t have food…”
