After losing their mother, Sundari (11) and Wulan (10) are left to survive on their own. Their father works as a truck driver and only comes home once a week—sometimes even less. Every day after school, the two sisters walk around selling ice pops and chips to help pay for food and school fees.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! While other kids play after school, Sundari and Wulan rush to change clothes and head out to sell. They often stay out until late at night, especially when sales are slow. Their income is unstable—on good days, they make around $7, but they have to split that with the chip shop owner since they take the snacks on consignment.
They’ve sacrificed their childhood just to survive. Their father’s income alone isn’t enough, so the girls work hard just to afford plain rice or to keep up with school fees. They’ve even come close to dropping out due to unpaid tuition.
Despite all this, they hold onto a dream: to stay in school and build a better future. “Mom told us to study as high as we can, because maybe one day we can change our family’s life,” Sundari said.
#KindHearts, Sundari and Wulan shouldn’t have to carry this burden alone. With your help, they can continue their education and honor their mother’s last wish.
