“I almost died once while selling cakes on the street.”
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Lauw Twan Hing, fondly known as Grandpa Hing (72 years old), cannot survive without insulin injections after being diagnosed with chronic diabetes. Every day, Grandpa must inject insulin three times to stay strong enough to carry out his daily activities.
One day, Grandpa fainted on the street after selling cakes from 3 AM until late afternoon. That day, he hadn’t injected insulin in the morning, causing his body to weaken and eventually collapse. Despite his severe illness, Grandpa continues to fight to make a living and strives to recover.
Each day, he walks about 15 kilometers selling cakes at just 80 cents each. However, many times the cakes remain unsold and become unsellable by the end of the day, resulting in losses as he has to throw them away.
“I make all the traditional cakes myself and head to the market by 3 AM on foot, because I don’t own any vehicle,” said Grandpa.
Even though he is in pain, Grandpa never gives up. He fights every day to support his wife, Grandma Lani (72 years old), and to afford the lifelong insulin injections he needs three times a day.
Through all the hardships they face, Grandpa Hing and Grandma Lani continue to believe that God will not abandon them to suffering and trials. They remain full of hope for His blessings.
Donations collected through this campaign will not only support Grandpa but, with his consent, will also be channeled to help other beneficiaries in similar urgent need.
The selection of beneficiaries will be based on the urgency of needs, availability of funds, and alignment with the program’s objectives.
Donation distributions will be reported regularly on the Updates section of this fundraising page. Stay tuned!
