The Learning Child Project (Projek Anak Didik) is a grassroots literacy effort based in Kuala Perlis, Malaysia, supporting children who have never been to school. Many of them come from undocumented families, face citizenship issues, or are stuck in poverty with no access to basic education.

This project was started by Syamim, a local youth volunteer, after discovering several children in his own community had never been registered for school. Together with a team of seven unpaid volunteers, they now run weekly reading, writing, and counting classes for children who are far behind. Some of them are as old as ten but are only just learning how to hold a pencil.

With no initial funding, volunteers have used their own money to buy supplies and travel to class locations. Now, Project Anak Didik is seeking support to provide reading materials and learning tools to help these children grow in a more literacy-rich environment. A small portion of the funds will also go towards supporting the dedicated volunteers who have been keeping the project alive.

#KindSouls, these children didn’t choose this life, but with your help, they can finally begin learning, dreaming, and hoping like every child should. Let’s not leave them behind any longer.
