Muhammad Syakir Iman was born a healthy baby, just like any other child. However, everything changed when he suffered from a high fever at six months old.
Years passed without any suspicious signs, until Syakir reached Year 3. That’s when he began to frequently fall without any obvious reason. At first, his family thought it was normal for a growing child.
But gradually, his condition worsened. Syakir could no longer lift his legs normally, and his movements became increasingly limited.
After undergoing several tests, doctors confirmed that Syakir suffers from a rare neurological disorder. Tragically, there is no medicine or treatment that can cure this disease.
Now, at 14 years old, Syakir has become weaker. He can no longer walk, move his body, or take care of himself. Every movement, no matter how small, is a challenge.
Since Syakir fell ill, his 60-year-old grandmother has become his primary caregiver. Without a steady source of income, their life has become increasingly difficult. In addition to taking care of Syakir, his grandmother also has to look after his younger sibling. The burden is immense, especially as Syakir now requires special equipment to make daily life manageable.
Even more heartbreaking, Syakir’s parents have disappeared, leaving him and his sibling entirely under the care of their elderly grandmother.
A wheelchair is urgently needed to help him move, while a special mattress is required to prevent bedsores from prolonged lying down. A specialized toilet is also essential to maintain hygiene. Unfortunately, the cost of these items is far beyond the family’s means.
On top of this, Syakir needs regular hospital check-ups, but the cost of travel and medical care adds another layer of difficulty that the family cannot bear. With such limited resources, they now rely on the kindness of others for support.
As a family struggling to make ends meet, it is extremely difficult for them to cover Syakir’s medical and care expenses. Traveling to the hospital for check-ups is also costly, and they cannot manage it on their own.
Kind-hearted people, let’s help lighten the burden for Syakir and his grandmother with our contributions!
