Every day, 10-year-old Wiranto Jaya Saputra walks the streets selling ice pops, not for fun—but to keep his small family alive.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! Two years ago, his father abandoned them and remarried, leaving behind Wiranto, his 6-year-old sister Satian Wanda Ramadani, and their mother Masriah, who is completely blind. His sister also suffers from severe visual impairment and frequent illness. With no one else to rely on, Wiranto has taken on the role of provider and caregiver—at just 10 years old.
Their home is a fragile hut with no steady income. Masriah, once a stone laborer, lost her eyesight after being struck by flying debris. The trauma and abandonment caused her to fall into depression, often spending her days crying alone. Still, Wiranto stands by her with love and strength, whispering to her, “We’re here for you, Mom. We won’t leave you.”
To survive, Wiranto sells ice pops for $0.07 profit each, hoping to earn just enough to buy rice for his family. On many days, he and his sister go out hungry. Once, his little sister nearly fainted from hunger. Still, he pushes through the pain and exhaustion.
Despite the bullying from peers and the stares of strangers, Wiranto stays strong. He cooks, cleans, and takes care of his sister and mother, all while continuing his studies in 3rd grade. His only wish? To take his mother to the doctor, and one day, buy her a mattress—so she no longer has to sleep on the hard floor.
#KindSouls, no child should carry the weight of the world alone. Your support can help Wiranto buy food, care for his blind mother, and give his little sister the comfort she deserves.
